Though I’ve been doing guide trips on her for the last decade, it’s been only the last couple years that I have solely focused my winter season there. I used to chase prime conditions and green water from the Mattole to the Umpqua and everything in between. And though I love the chase, I have embraced an entirely different approach. Learning a river intimately through high flows and low, from January through March. I’ve gotten skunked when conditions were perfect and have had success in the most dire circumstances. I think she likes me and I know I love her.

Take a moment and enjoy these scenic photographs of the 2026 season. Thank you to all those who fished with me this season. Special days.
If you are interested in one of these trips, they are not for everybody. Its the most challenging steelhead fishing I personally know off. It’s the resounding favorite river to get skunked on. Still want to go? Me too. Email me at [email protected].
