Last night there was an opening for a photography show at the Sisson Museum. (Shown Above) The show was focussed on local photographers, and had a variety of subjects and style. Photography is both an art and a craft and both are represented side by side in a grand room towards the back of the museum. I was lucky enough to hang six pieces. Five of the images are recent work and it is always great to see new work in frames, hung in a show. The exhibit was supported my many great local photographers and hopes to gather those that didn't participate next year (a goal I will help to encourage). Thanks to Wanda Welbourn for all her hard work in organizing the event. For those reading this blog for fishing tips, the museum is located at the fish hatchery and you can stroll the ponds in awe after you visit the show.

Fall River is not a place I fish often, but it always proves to be a fun day. Three of us went on a small mission to see how the river was doing and gather some beta for a guide trip that I have there this weekend. What I learned was, the fish are grabby, the leaders are long, the flies are small and the wind sucks. I loved the colors of the veg growth on the rivers bottom and the clarity of the water allows one to find the holding slots even when fish are not showing themselves. A big thank you for all that Cal Trout does for us anglers on the Fall river. I'm hoping that the weather will be calm for my guide trip for it seems like a good time to be fishing this river.

It was truly remarkable to be back at the office on the McCloud river. Spring was in the air with wildflowers, dogwood blooms, lush green new growth, and even april showers. The water was 44 degrees, gin clear and running a little higher then normal; in my opinion perfect flows.
In the fast water big stoneflies and copper johns were working well but it was necessary to go to small mayflies in the deep slow pools. On the top-water it was all about the mayflies. The fish were active at every hole but would soon shut off and it would be time to move on. The beauty was so welcoming it often kept us captivated enough to sit and enjoy simply being on the river. We fished for three days straight over the same water and had consistent results every day. I cant wait to be back on it.

As most of my clients and friends know I am working on a photography book about the McCloud River. She posed so brilliantly for me the last few days and I will be seeing her beauty in the darkroom for a couple days until I can get back on her later this week.

Tomorrow I'm heading up to fish the Fall river, wanna find out how I did?

A few years ago I had a blog on fly fishing. Many of my friends, clients and readers have asked me to bring it back. So its back, with a new name, indicative to a fly-fishing guide/photographic artist living in Weed, California. Its my hope that I can educate, inspire, entertain and humor my readers without offense. I will be writing about my life, the art-world that I orbit around, and fly-fishing. Those of you readers who followed my old blog solely for fishing tips now must filter through a bunch of fartsy artsy bullshit. It may be easier for you to hire me as a guide through wildwatersflyfishing.com

So welcome to my blog, enjoy.
